Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world and has been around for centuries with thousands of different types of tea.
The tea leaf is really healthy for you, so you can’t go wrong if you drink tea now and then.
Here are some interesting facts you probably didn’t know about tea.
- January of every year is a special month for tea as it is officially a national hot tea month.
- A report issued by the UK Tea Council in 2006 stated that the fluoride content of tea makes it really healthy for your mouth by slowing down the tooth decay process and preventing cavities.
- Tea contains catechins, which are a type of antioxidant.
- It reduces people’s risk of heart disease, having a stroke and diabetes.
- Catechins can also be found in dark chocolate, so if you put dark chocolate in your tea, you’ve got twice as less chance of getting heart problems!
- A professor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham called Santosh Katiyar done a lot of research in and found that it can also protect the skin from harmful UV rays.
- Tea is useful for other things other than drinking, for example, putting wet teabags over your eyes for 20 minutes or so reduces the swelling of puffy eyes.
